Yesterday I was out for a series of appointments for myself and my children. I am excited to say that I arrived at school today to a glowing note from the substitute on how wonderful the children were. Also, our class fish bowl was filled to over flowing. This means that the class earned a celebration. We will be having a dress up day next Friday, October 11th. Students can dress in a costume, pjs, or any crazy outfit they want. They really have been working hard and doing a great job.
What a Beautiful day we had on Friday. Here are just a couple of the sites that we saw on our walk.
Dreambox is now up and working. Students can do their math homework.
I have heard that Dreambox is down. The technology department is working on the problem and I will let you know when it is up and running. Thank you for you patience.

We filled our fish bowl with tokens. We will be having some free electronics time tomorrow. Students can use their own devices.

If your child needs a change of transportation please use the link on the MBS homepage. It is more efficient than a note or phone call and reduces the traffic in the office. www.csdvt.org/mbs
School starts at 8:30. There is adult coverage on the playground and in the Cafe starting at 8:15.
Homework will be the same all year. Read for 25 minutes and do Dreambox for 25 minutes four times a week. This way there is never any confusion about what students need to do.
I know that getting in the swing of things can be a challenge. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help make that transition smoother.

Hello Families,
It is my last day in Mrs. Miller’s class. I am so grateful to have had this amazing opportunity. I have learned so much about the fifth-grade curriculum and the responsibilities of a teacher. I am so sad to leave these bubbly and energetic students. They have taught me all about their lives, their interests, and their hopes.
During my solo weeks, we worked on creating egg drop contraptions during science. They were super sturdy and saved the eggs! Thank you for bringing in materials. In social studies, we learned about the constitution and wrote our own class preamble. In writing, we wrote our own state research reports. We are now working on making state projects and presenting them. In math, we are working on finding the area and volume of objects. In reading, we are researching sources for our projects. It has been a pleasure working with these students. They each bring their unique perspective to our classroom.
I am excited to continue my journey to become a teacher. I will be moving back to New Jersey after I graduate from UVM. I hope you have an amazing summer! Thank you for welcoming me into the Mallets Bay community!
Sincerely,
Ms. Spencer
