Office Hours

My Office Hours for Remote student days are M, Tu, Th, F 8:00 to 8:30 and 8:30 to 9 on Wed.

I will not be available during the day to meet with students via zoom as I will be teaching the in-person group.  Students can email me and I will get back to them as soon as I can.

Home Supplies

Happy Thursday Everyone,

I have been working on getting everything ready for the first day of school.  The classroom is almost ready and is just in need of some fifth grade student energy.
As I was putting everything together I realized that students are going to need some supplies to use while doing work at home.  Items that they will need are as follows: pencils, colored pencils, markers, scissors, tape, a glue stick and a ruler.  There will be times when students will be using these to complete work on virtual days.
If you are a green group family (attend school in person on Thursdays and Fridays) you will be receiving an envelope in the mail with the work for Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th.  Be sure to stay on the lookout for that.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Welcome Letter

Dear 5th Grade Student and Family,

Welcome to Summit House 5th grade! I am so excited for you to be in Miller’s Minions this year. This year will definitely be different than how we have experienced school in the past, but I believe it will  be a great one full of making new friends and discoveries.

I cannot wait to meet all of you! I hope you had a fun, safe, relaxing summer break. I spent my summer camping,  getting my daughter ready for college, and preparing for the upcoming school year.

The first official day of school will be on September 8th.  Each classroom has been split up into two groups.  An A/Blue (Monday & Tuesday) and B/ Green(Thursday, Friday) Group.   All students will be engaged in remote learning on Wednesdays.

I will be supplying students with school materials such as markers, pencils, crayons, and erasers. The items that will need to be brought in from home are a water bottle and a pair of comfortable earbuds/headphones to use in class.  Students will also need to bring at least 3 masks to school daily ( 1 to wear & 2 spares!).  Please make sure to label all personal items that come into school with your student’s last name.

Everyone at MBS is working hard to get everything ready for the first day of school.  Be on the lookout for more information from the MBS Office about Smart Start and Open House.  I am constantly checking my email, which is the best way to contact me when you need me.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Miller

First Zoom Meeting

We had our first zoom meeting today.  It was great to see so many of you.  I miss seeing you every day

I send out the zoom meeting link to students’ gmail accounts.  Students should be checking that email daily.  I will inform you by email the day before we have a zoom meeting.

Hello Minions

Good Morning Minion Families,

I am up and working.  As you can see from the picture below I have set up a little work station at the end of my kitchen table.  I found that working on the couch was not efficient.

Today you will be receiving a new template from MBS that has your work requirements for the next two weeks.  Do your best to do work each day.  It will help you to stay in the routine of getting work done.  We tried to give you items that did not have you plugged in all day.

I will be available each day by email.  My official office hours are 8-10 and 2-4, but I check my email all throughout the day.  We do have several staff meetings a group work expectations that we will be working on each day.  If I don’t get back to you during those times it is because I am working on other work at that time.  Today the teachers are going to work on getting our Zoom accounts up and running.  This will allow me to get some face time with students and see how they are doing.  Please let me know if there is anything you need.

Missing my Minions,

Mrs. Miller

Headphones and clothing

Students need a set of headphones to keep here at school and use every day.  Unfortunately, most of the pairs that I had at the beginning of the year have been broken and I can’t purchase more this year.  Please label your child’s name on the bag that they will keep them in.

Students need to dress in layers for the classroom.  I recommend a short sleeve shirt with a sweater or sweatshirt.  The classroom temperature fluctuates throughout the day.  I don’t let them wear their coats in the classroom as then they are too cold when they go outside because they don’t have something extra to put on.

Thank you for your help with this matter.

Stephanie
